Vienna formed part of the "MittelEuropa" tour that Yvon and I took in 2002. At the time, I liked this city so much more than I expected. I had expected it to have a baroque quality and to be dripping in angels, and though there was a lot of that, there was also a lot of really sharp, minimal, modern design, and I fell in love with the city's ease, beauty and style. In April 2026 I returned, but only for six hours, which was due to a flight cancellation leading to a long layover in town. With little time to plan for a visit, I asked ChatGPT to give me a six hour walking tour for architectural highlights of Vienna. I note that in six hours I took more photos than in the four days of my previous visit, which at the very least suggest some kind of mania having developed over the years.

Six Hours in Vienna in 2026 (135 photos) - My flight from Frankfurt to Chișinău got cancelled at the last minute, and the replacement flight had a ten hour layover in Vienna. I had little time to plan a visit, so I simply used ChatGPT to create a six hour walking tour of architectural highlights. Only after I had visited did I compare my photos fromo 2026 to those from 24 years earlier, and I found them to have a huge overlap. But I honestly held few memories of the city.
