Mexico City Map
I travelled to Mexico City with
friends Loryl and Susan in 2005, for a week. I was terribly surprised by how
much the city had to offer. Markets, colonial spanish architecture, amazing
museums and galleries, tourist neighbourhoods with expensive drinks, slums,
markets, a fine subway system, and ancient ruins. I found more like Rome
than I thought, but then, I've never been to Rome. The city is definitely
under-rated as a destination, and is well worth a visit. When we were there,
the weather was great, too.

-
Central
city (135 photos) -
Includes large modern buildings, city parks, the market area, the Mayan
Templo Mayor, old churches, square and an art museum a bit out of the
central area.
-
Hunting
Buildings (72 photos) -
I went off on my own one day to locate a list of buildings that I had
compiled, these photos are the result. They are mostly of the wealthier
south side of the city, and also include the fabulously tattooed
University City buildings. There are some city views from the Torre
LatinoAmeria (I can never resist a tall view), and at the end of the day,
the Anthropology Museum.
-
Teotihuacan (51 photos) - This is an ancient Mayan city, somewhat
restored, about an hour out of Mexico City.
-
Mexico
City Interlude in 2026 (56 photos) - I was in
the city for a few hours after my flight landed and before I met Clint &
Robb to take a bus to San Miguel, so we went downtown for a quick walk
around before meeting them at the Autobuses.
This also has a bunch of photos out of the window of the bus as we
passed through fairly sordid parts of the city in a great and unending
traffic jam. Finally, a few photos from my even briefer stay on the
return home when I spent a night in a hotel attached to the airport.
